The Kingdom of Morocco has once again demonstrated their prowess when it comes to the organization of sports events on the continent.
Every sporting event hosted by the North African country has proven to be top notch, and the 2025 Africa Seniors Beach Volleyball has just been added to the list of success stories of Morocco.
With the 2025 Africa Senior Beach Volleyball Championship about to come to an end, one cannot but commend the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation and the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) for putting up a spectacular show.
It was six days of techniques, precision, fun, intense competition, display of bravery, excitement and above African fighting spirit.
Participation: The championship would go on record as one of the highest in history of the competition, with at least 25 countries taking part in the six-day event.
Aside the participation, the male category recorded over 110 matches, whilst the female category recorded over 80 matches, signaling another show of massive improvement.
Quality of play: the quality of play was not in doubt. Players demonstrated their quality on all aspects of the game; set ups, exchanges, long drives, inter-position all changes, and spiking.
The sport has indeed improved on the continent, and with the needed support, the continent would soon be in a position to take on the world and the 2025 World Cup in Australia would put to test our quality and growth as a continent.
Organization: the set up at the Martil Beach was excellent, the branding, entry of teams, entertainment before, in-between and after games were well coordinated, with regular musical interlude that reflects the diverse background of participating teams.
Patronage; football remains a dominant sport in Morocco, but beach volleyball was the toast of the people of Martil in the last few days of the championship.
The fans trooped to the beach side each day to catch a glimpse, enjoy the spikes and set ups as the continent searches for her representatives for the World Cup in Australia.
For those who could not get to the stands at the beach, the large screens were enough for them on the outside as they had fun whilst watching the action.
Competition: after six days of grueling encounters, Egypt, Morocco, Togo, Mozambique have made it to the World Cup and from the quality of play, it’s obvious Africa would put up a good show at the World Cup.
Media Coverage; kudos to the Royal Morocco Volleyball Federation and the CVAB for ensuring that, the coverage of the competition was not only limited to Morocco but across the continent.
This follows the invitation of journalists from selected African countries who gave extensive coverage of the championship to their respective listeners, viewers and readers in their countries.
The 2025 Africa Seniors Beach Volleyball Championships is indeed a success story and positive platform for progress for the sport on the continent.
