2026 WAFCON Qualifiers: Black Queens beat Egypt with 7-0 on aggregate scoreline to secure qualification

The Black Queens have officially punched their ticket to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after yet another resounding 4-0 win over Egypt in a thrilling second leg game at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.

The Queens will now book their place in Morocco early next year with a 7-0 on aggregate win over the Cleopatras having beaten them by the same scoreline in the first leg in Ismailia last Thursday.

This the second consecutive time Ghana has qualified for the WAFCON in recent years after they had missed out for eight years.

It was a great start to the second leg and as usual Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s girls were by far the better side having dominated the game in all aspects.

Few attempts were made on goal with Doris Boaduwaa coming close in most situations but all were futile as it finished goalless at half-time.

The Egyptians who came solely with a defensive approach to the game couldn’t continue with their low-block as Ghana finally found a way to break through.

The Black Queens returned on an explosive note having scored thrice in the space of five minutes through Doris Boaduwaa who netted twice with the other coming from Comfort Yeboah to give them a huge urge in the game.

Doris once again got on the scoresheet to secure her hattrick after tapping into the net from Stella’s cross in the dying embers of the game.

The team will regroup in December to test their strength against European champions England in December before the WAFCON which comes off in March next year in Morocco.

It will also serve as qualification to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be held in Brazil.
