2026 World Cup Qualifiers: “Don’t Celebrate Yet, Let’s Finish Off Comoros” – Asamoah Gyan Urges Ghanaians

Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has called on Ghanaians to fill the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday as Ghana looks to seal qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with victory over Comoros.

The Black Stars are on the verge of qualification following a resounding 5–0 triumph over the Central African Republic in their penultimate fixture. However, Gyan has urged the team and supporters to stay focused until the job is fully done.

“I haven’t seen this in a long time. First, I want to thank Ghanaians for their massive support. In the first half, we struggled a bit physically and had to make adjustments — but you saw how sharp and offensive we became in the second half,” Gyan told 3Sports.

“This team has shown they can score goals — three against Madagascar and now five today. But it’s not time to celebrate yet. We must finish the job in Accra, and I’m calling on all fans to come in their numbers to support the team.”

Ghana delivered a ruthless second-half performance at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès in Morocco after leading 1–0 at half-time.

Mohammed Salisu opened the scoring from a Mohammed Kudus corner, before Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, and Jordan Ayew all found the net. Kamaldeen Sulemana completed the rout late on with his first goal for the national team.

With 22 points at the summit of Group I, the Black Stars now shift their focus to Sunday’s decisive encounter against Comoros, kicking off at 7 p.m. local time. A win would officially confirm Ghana’s place at the 2026 World Cup.
