2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Kwesi Appiah helps Sudan draw with Togo

Former Ghana coach, Kwasi Appiah’s Sudan played a pulsating one all drawn game against Togo in the 2026 World Cup qualifier.

 

Pitched in group B against D.R Congo, Senegal, South Sudan, Togo and Mauritania, the Sudanese played their first WC qualifying game against the Hawks of Togo at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi due to the ineligibility of CAF standard stadium in Sudan.

 

Appiah’s side entered the game beaming with confidence having managed to avoid defeat in their last two friendly matches, holding Tanzania to a 1-1 draw before claiming a hard fought one nil victory against Chad.

 

 

Sudan were first on the score sheet after Milton Keynes striker, Mohammed Eisa converted a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. Hawks striker Ahoueke Steeve equalized on the brink of half time.

 

 

Back from recess, Sudan dominated possession but failed to find the back of the net after 8 goal attempts and 5 shots on target.

 

The Sudanese Football Association engaged the services of the Akwasi Appiah, goal keepers coach Fatau Dauda and assistant coach Ignatius Fosu to bolster their squad in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup

 

D.R Congo’s 2- 0 win over Mauritania has put them temporarily on the summit of group. African champions Senegal takes on South Sudan in another epic clash at the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium.
