Mr. Mathew Asada – Press Attaché to the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Accra, has said the 2026 FIFA World Cup is just about football, but business and culture.
“We are not only expecting Ghana to come to the USA with just the national team, but with a business and cultural delegation”.
He made these statements during a two-hour at the Countdown to WC2026 at the USA Embassy in Accra.
The session under the theme “Bridging the gap; fostering connections between the United States and Ghana through Soccer and Culture”.
According to Mr. Asada, this would offer Ghana the opportunity to explore the business and cultural opportunities in the USA.
He added that it would also boost cultural and business development between the two countries.
He said, the two countries must begin to explore how culture and business can each contribute to the development of Ghana and that there was the need to start the conversation now.
“Ghana should start thing about a partnership and collaboration that would yield to the Ghana’s benefit.
“USA is not looking just soccer, but exploring business opportunities and promoting cultural diversity”, he noted.
The session drew participants from various stakeholders in sports across the country.
It is to also aimed highlighting on each of the 11 host cities for the competition.
