Speedster Patrick Razak Set for Sensational Return to Hearts of Oak
Highly-rated winger Patrick Razak is expected to join Hearts of Oak’s pre-season training later this month as the club intensifies preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 football season and other future engagements.
Razak, who has been inactive for over a year, has been the subject of calls from sections of the club’s passionate fanbase and some members of the management to be reintegrated into the squad. The 29-year-old has already commenced personal training in anticipation of a return.
Earlier reports indicated that newly-appointed head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani was not in favour of Razak’s return, which reportedly led to his omission from the squad for the President’s Cup clash a few weeks ago.
However, exclusive updates from Accra suggest that the pacey winger has now been invited to rejoin the team when training resumes. He will be closely assessed by the new technical team, who will determine whether he fits into their plans for the season ahead.
Razak is widely regarded as one of the finest players to have donned the Phobia jersey in the last decade, known for his blistering pace and game-changing abilities. His first stint with the Rainbow Club began in 2016, before securing a move to Guinean giants Horoya AC in 2018. He returned to Hearts of Oak in 2020 for a second spell.
His last competitive outing was with lower-tier side Bazuka FC, and he has not played actively for nearly two years. Despite his inactivity, Razak’s quality remains unquestioned, with many fans remembering his instrumental role in the Black Galaxies’ triumph at the 2016 WAFU Zone B Championship held in Cape Coast.
As Hearts of Oak prepare to reshape their squad for the new campaign, all eyes will be on Razak to see whether he can reignite his career and contribute to the club’s quest for silverware.
