Ghana has once again proven its growing dominance in the sport of armwrestling, clinching a total of 50 medals at the 2025 African Armwrestling Championship held in Nairobi, Kenya.

The national team delivered a commanding performance, collecting:

✅ 21 Gold medals

✅ 20 Silver medals

✅ 9 Bronze medals

The medal haul places Ghana among the top-performing nations at the continental event, showcasing the depth of talent and preparation within the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF).

Led by president Charles Osei Asibey and head coach Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai, Team Ghana featured a blend of experienced athletes and emerging stars, many of whom won multiple medals across different weight categories.

This year’s showing marks one of Ghana’s best performances at the African championship and builds on the momentum from previous competitions, reaffirming the country’s ambition to become a global powerhouse in the sport.

The achievement also comes as a boost ahead of the upcoming World Armwrestling Championships, where Ghana is expected to field a strong contingent based on current form.
