Ghanaian left-back Abdul Baba Rahman has moved to dispel rumours regarding his international career, clarifying that he has not retired from the Black Stars. Instead, the defender explained that he has taken a temporary break from international duty in order to recover fully from persistent injuries.

“It’s a personal decision to step back [from Ghana] and concentrate on my fitness because I’ve not had the best of times with injuries,” Rahman told BBC Sport Africa.

“When I joined PAOK last year, I felt it was wise to stay away from international football for a while in order to regain my fitness,” he added.

Rahman’s clarification comes after mounting speculation over his absence from recent Ghana squads. The 31-year-old emphasised that his priority remains a full recovery, leaving the door open for a future return to the national team.
