Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation,Hon. Kofi Idi Adams, has issued a firm directive to the technical handlers of the Ghana national football team, urging them to approach their upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany with a winning mentality.

The Black Stars, continuing their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are scheduled to take on Austria on Friday, 27 March at the Ernst Happel Stadium, before travelling to Stuttgart to face Germany on Monday, 30 March.

Speaking exclusively to SportsnetghTv, Hon Adams made it clear that the friendlies must be treated as competitive fixtures rather than experimental outings.

“I have told the coaches that in these two matches we must go in with the mindset of winning, not merely to test players,” he stated.

The directive places added responsibility on head coach Otto Addo and his backroom staff, as the team seeks to build momentum and confidence ahead of the global showpiece later this year.

The Black Stars opened camp on Sunday and held their first training session on Monday with all 26 players in attendance with Key figures like Alexander Djiku, Thomas Partey, Captain Jordan Ayew.

Beyond the European friendlies, Ghana’s build-up to the World Cup will continue with further high-profile matches against Mexico and Wales in May and June, offering the technical team additional opportunities to fine-tune tactics and assess squad depth.

With expectations rising among supporters, the message from the Sports Ministry is unmistakable: results matter, and the road to the World Cup must be paved with victories.
