The Ambassador of Switzerland to Ghana, Simone Giger, over the weekend welcomed members of Ghana’s national boxing team, the Black Bombers, at her residence in Accra in a gesture that underscores growing international support for the sport.

The visit, led by the President of the Ghana Boxing Federation, Dauda Fuseni, formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for the development of boxing in Ghana. He was accompanied by key officials of the federation, as well as members of the technical team.

The Black Bombers, Ghana’s elite boxing squad, used the occasion to engage with the Swiss delegation on issues ranging from athlete development and international exposure to infrastructural support and training opportunities. Discussions also centred on potential partnerships, including exchange programmes and technical assistance aimed at improving the standard of boxing in the country.

Ambassador Giger commended the team for their dedication and the rich legacy of Ghanaian boxing, which has produced world-class talents over the years. She reiterated Switzerland’s commitment to supporting youth development through sport, highlighting boxing as a powerful tool for discipline, resilience and social inclusion.

President Fuseni, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasised the importance of international collaboration in elevating Ghana’s boxing profile on the global stage. He noted that such engagements are vital as the Black Bombers intensify preparations for upcoming continental and international competitions.

The visit concluded on a high note, with both parties expressing optimism about future cooperation that will not only benefit the athletes but also contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of boxing in Ghana.
