Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), through its Inter-Union Association in collaboration with the Sports and Recreation Unit, will stage an exciting Staff Fun Games event on Friday, 1 May 2026 at the CCTU Park (Waterloo Park).
The event, scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., is expected to bring together members of staff from various departments and units across the university for a day of competition, relaxation and team bonding.
Organisers say the initiative forms part of efforts to promote staff welfare, healthy living and stronger relationships within the university community. Beyond the competitive spirit, the programme is also aimed at encouraging unity and creating a refreshing atmosphere outside the normal demands of work.
A wide range of activities has been lined up for participants, including football, volleyball, sack race, lime and spoon race, table tennis, ludo, draughts, playing cards, a 30-metre race and scrabble.

Speaking ahead of the event, Aaron Turkson of the Building Department, CCTU, expressed enthusiasm about the programme and urged staff members to take part.
“This is more than just a sporting event. It is an opportunity for staff to connect, relax and build stronger relationships with colleagues from different departments. Activities like this help create a positive working environment, and I encourage everyone to come along and participate,” he said.
Mr Turkson added that such events are important in maintaining a healthy balance between work and recreation, while also strengthening the sense of community within the institution.
The Staff Fun Games is expected to attract strong participation and lively support, with many staff members already looking forward to the chance to showcase their talents both on and off the field.

With excitement building ahead of May Day, the event promises to be one of the highlights of the university’s social calendar.
