Boston, Massachusetts / Accra, Ghana — Dr Dave Bishop, Chief Executive Officer of Bishop Boxing Promotions, has been awarded an honorary doctorate in Global Partnership Leadership and Sports Management by Kennedy University of France in recognition of his contributions to sport, entrepreneurship and international community development.

The honour acknowledges Dr Bishop’s efforts to bridge the worlds of athletics, business and social impact through strategic partnerships and grassroots initiatives. He is also set to receive a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from the university during its December convocation in Boston.

A respected boxing promoter, philanthropist and community advocate, Dr Bishop has built a reputation for combining international sporting expertise with practical development initiatives aimed at improving lives.

In Ekroful, Ghana, where he serves as Development Chief, he has spearheaded projects designed to create employment opportunities, support small businesses, improve local infrastructure and expand programmes for young people.

His work has been widely credited with strengthening economic resilience and promoting social development within the community.

“I am convinced that sport is more than competition — it is a bridge to opportunity, a classroom for character and a means of expanding the circle of shared prosperity,” Dr Bishop said.

“If we invest in people and their potential, we ignite communities and unlock opportunities for the many, not just the few.”

Beyond his community initiatives, Dr Bishop is seeking to influence the future of Ghanaian boxing through his candidacy for Second Vice-President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) in the organisation’s upcoming elections.

His campaign is centred on transparent governance, athlete welfare, structured talent development and stronger international partnerships aimed at attracting investment and increasing the global profile of Ghanaian boxing.

Colleagues and community stakeholders have praised Dr Bishop’s ability to leverage international networks to create opportunities for athletes, entrepreneurs and local communities.

Supporters say his unique blend of business acumen, community-focused leadership and commitment to athlete development positions him as a strong advocate for reform within Ghana’s boxing industry.

The honorary doctorate further recognises his efforts to professionalise sports management while promoting sustainable partnerships and long-term social impact.

As he prepares for his graduation in December and intensifies his campaign for the GBA executive position, many believe Dr Bishop is well placed to help shape the future of Ghanaian boxing while continuing to drive meaningful development at the grassroots level.
