Ghanaian siblings Israel and Prince Aklie have progressed to the semi-finals of the Under-15 Boys’ Doubles at the 2025 African Youth Table Tennis Championships.

Competing at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall, the Aklie brothers delivered an impressive run of performances. After receiving a bye in the Round of 32, they comfortably defeated Madagascar’s Andriamihaja Rakotovao and Andriantahina Josh 3-0 in the Round of 16.

Their quarter-final clash against Nigeria’s Adebakin Tobi and Adeoye Hussein proved far more challenging. However, the Ghanaian pair showed great resilience and composure to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory in a thrilling five-set encounter.

With their cohesive teamwork and sharp playing technique, the Aklie brothers have emerged as strong medal contenders. They are now set to face their Algerian opponents in the semi-finals, with a place in the final firmly in their sights.

The Ghana Table Tennis Association has expressed its support for the young duo as they continue their campaign on the continental stage.
