Morocco will make an appearance in finals of the ongoing 2025 Africa Seniors Beach Volleyball Championships, after dominating in the male and female categories.
Morocco would now play Mozambique in the female category, whilst the two males teams from Morocco would battle it out in the male category.
At the Martil beach on Saturday, June 28, Mozambique pulled a fast one on Egypt to book a place in the finals of the competition.
Despite initial struggles, which saw Vanessa and Mercia lose the first set, they made a quick return to snatch the second set 21-19 and concluded with a tie-break that saw them record 15-9 over the Egyptians to win the day with 2-1 sets.
In the second match, Morocco recorded a 2-0 victory over Nigeria also in the women’s category to book a place with Mozambique in the finals.
It was 21-10 and 21-16 in favour of the host nation.
In the men’s category, Togo failed to go past
Moroccan Soufiane El Gharouti and Anass Saber.
The Moroccans won the first set 21 to 19 and 21-16 in the second set to book their final berth.
The second team of Morocco also managed 2-1 victory over Mozambique to book a place in the finals.
Theo pair José Mondlane and Osvaldo Mungoi starting off strong picked 21-14 victory, but the hosts came back to win 21-16 with a beautiful combination of Zouneir Elgraoui and Ilyass Lazar.
In the third set, Morocco secured 15-10 win to seal qualification into the finals.
Morocco, Egypt, Mozambique and Togo have thus qualified for the World Cup in Australia in November.
