Ghana’s para-swimming duo, Promise Wonder Atsu Aheto and Bryan Baffour Kwadwo Akotoh, have departed for Australia to compete in the 2026 World Para Swimming Series.

The two athletes are set to represent Ghana at the prestigious international event, which forms part of the qualification pathway towards major global competitions, including the Paralympic Games. The World Series brings together elite para-swimmers from across the globe, offering them the opportunity to earn valuable ranking points and achieve qualifying times.

Aheto and Akotoh have been undergoing intensive training in the lead-up to the competition, with technical guidance from their coaches and support from the National Paralympic Committee. Their participation marks another significant milestone for Ghana’s growing presence in para-sports on the international stage.

Officials believe the exposure to high-level competition in Australia will not only enhance the athletes’ development but also inspire more persons with disabilities in Ghana to take up competitive sport.

The duo are expected to compete in their respective classification categories, with hopes of improving their personal best times and making a strong impression at the global event.
