Former All Blacks head coach Ahmed Fathi has firmly dismissed reports suggesting that his recent resignation was influenced by interest from Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko.
The Egyptian tactician stepped down from his role just days ago, a decision that immediately fuelled speculation about a possible move to the Kumasi-based club. However, Fathi has moved quickly to set the record straight.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, the former All Blacks boss categorically denied any contact with the Porcupine Warriors.
“If this is about claims that someone from Asante Kotoko has contacted me, as being reported in the media, then I must state clearly that it is not true,” Fathi said.
He stressed that the rumours making the rounds are purely speculative and not grounded in any concrete discussions.
“Everything being said at the moment exists only in the media. I am, however, proud and honoured that my name is being linked with a big club like Kotoko, but as it stands, there has been nothing official,” he added.
Fathi’s comments appear to cool the growing speculation linking him to a move to Kumasi, although questions still linger over the timing and nature of his sudden departure from All Blacks. His resignation has continued to puzzle many observers, with no clear indication yet of his next step in football management.
