Antoine Semenyo’s sensational second goal for Bournemouth against Liverpool has etched his name into Premier League history, ranking among the longest solo runs to end in a goal.
The Ghana international’s 52.4-metre carry at Anfield now sits 10th on the all-time list for goal-ending ball carries since the 2015/16 season, edging out Jesse Lingard’s 51.6-metre effort from 2021.
It also ranks as the third-longest in the Premier League since 2021/22, behind only Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi (54.7m) and Anthony Elanga (54.1m), both scored against Manchester United.
Semenyo’s moment of brilliance came in the 76th minute of Friday’s season opener, when he picked up the ball inside his own half, powered past Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, before rifling low past Alisson to make it 2-2.
Although Bournemouth went on to lose 4-2 to the defending champions, the goal underlined Andoni Iraola’s side as one of the league’s most dangerous counterattacking outfits.
The dazzling run, which lasted just seven seconds, highlighted Semenyo’s directness and composure. The 25-year-old has now scored four goals from carries since the start of last season — a tally bettered by only six players in the league.
In addition, he became the first visiting player to score twice at Anfield in a league game since Leandro Trossard’s hat-trick for Brighton in September 2022.
