German giants Bayern Munich have celebrated Ghanaian football legend Samuel Osei Kuffour with a glowing tribute as he marks his 49th birthday today.

Kuffour, who remains one of Africa’s most respected defenders, enjoyed a hugely successful career at the Allianz Arena, winning an impressive 16 major trophies during his stay with the Bavarian powerhouse. His collection includes six Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal Cups, and the 2001 UEFA Champions League, when Bayern defeated Valencia in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

The former Black Stars stalwart made over 250 appearances for Bayern Munich, earning a reputation for his uncompromising defending, leadership qualities, and unwavering passion for the club. He was also named BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2001, further cementing his place among the continent’s football greats.

Bayern’s tribute not only recognised Kuffour’s immense contribution on the pitch but also celebrated his enduring legacy as one of the most decorated Ghanaian players in history.
