Accra Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been named as the Ghana Premier League Goalkeeper of the Month for September, highlighting his vital role in the club’s recent defensive solidity. The 33-year-old demonstrated impeccable form, recording three clean sheets in as many matches, the best among all goalkeepers in the league during this period.

Asare’s performances were key to Hearts of Oak’s strong run, during which the team secured two victories and a draw, conceding no goals and scoring twice. His composure under pressure, quick reflexes, and effective communication with the defensive line greatly contributed to the Phobians’ confident start to the season and their current fifth-place standing in the league.

His consistent displays set him apart from other top goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League, including Abdul Ganiu of Karela United, Lawrence Osei of Heart of Lions, and Kwame Aziz of Vision FC. Asare’s experience and leadership between the posts have been pivotal in lifting Hearts of Oak’s defensive performances, giving the team a solid foundation to pursue their ambitions this season.

Beyond domestic recognition, Asare’s outstanding form has caught the eye of Ghana’s national team coach, Otto Addo, who has identified him as the preferred choice for the Black Stars’ goalkeeping position. This endorsement marks a significant milestone for the seasoned shot-stopper, further raising his profile at the national level.

In celebration of his achievement, the Ex-Goalkeepers Union presented Asare with a special prize package, including gloves, a branded towel, water bottles, and a T-shirt. This accolade not only rewards his excellent performances but also encourages him to continue his contributions to Hearts of Oak and Ghanaian football.
