Black Galaxies head coach Kassim Osei Mingle has released a 20-man squad for the highly anticipated international friendly against Bafana Bafana of South Africa, scheduled for Tuesday, 16 December 2025, in Gauteng.
The fixture, arranged as part of South Africa’s final preparations ahead of their departure to Morocco for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025), is expected to offer both sides a competitive test. For the Galaxies, the clash provides a valuable opportunity to assess the readiness of home-based players as Ghana continues to rebuild its CHAN project.

According to the GFA, the selected squad features a blend of experienced Premier League stars and emerging talents who have impressed in the ongoing season. Notable inclusions are players from Samartex, Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Dreams FC, and other top-flight clubs, reflecting Mingle’s commitment to rewarding consistent domestic performances.
Coach Mingle expressed optimism ahead of the trip, noting that the match will help sharpen the team’s tactical shape and mental toughness.
“This is a good test for the boys. South Africa are preparing for AFCON, so we know the intensity will be high. We want to use this game to evaluate our structure, discipline, and appetite for competition,” the coach said.
The friendly also strengthens the growing football cooperation between Ghana and South Africa, with both federations exploring more bilateral engagements to enhance player development.
Bafana Bafana, under coach Hugo Broos, are expected to field a strong side as they round off their AFCON build-up, while the Galaxies aim to make a statement and build momentum ahead of future CHAN assignments.
A full itinerary for the team’s departure is expected to be released by the GFA in the coming days.
