Ghana’s senior national table tennis team, the Black Loopers, are poised to mount a strong challenge at the West Africa Regional Championships, set to take place in Nigeria from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 July 2025.

The regional competition brings together top talents from across West Africa and also serves as a qualifying event for the 2025 African Championships in Rwanda, making it a pivotal fixture for Ghana’s aspirations on the continental stage.

The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has announced a provisional squad of ten players who will represent the nation in both the men’s and women’s categories.

The men’s contingent features leading stars Emmanuel Commey, Israel Aklie, James Marfo, Francis Antwi, and Godwin Alabi — a group that combines pace, precision, and considerable international experience.

On the women’s side, the squad includes Cynthia Kwabi, Celia Baah-Danso, Bernice Borquaye, Eva Adom-Amankwaa, and Hilda Agbottah — a formidable line-up eager to assert Ghana’s dominance in the region.

The team will be guided by Head Coach David Senyo Ahiaba, with Eva Ampah serving as both assistant coach and head of the women’s team. Both coaches bring a wealth of experience from international competitions, raising hopes of a strong Ghanaian showing in Nigeria.

“This is a vital test for our players as they go up against high-level opposition from the sub-region,” said Coach Ahiaba. “We’ve put in a lot of work during training, and the objective is simple — qualify for Rwanda 2025 and make the nation proud.”
