The Black Queens of Ghana have arrived in Birmingham, England, to continue their preparations for the much-anticipated international friendly against the Lionesses of England, scheduled to take place at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday, 2 December.

The contingent, made up of players, technical staff and officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), touched down in the United Kingdom early on Sunday to commence the final phase of their build-up to the fixture. The team is expected to hold a series of intensive training sessions in Birmingham before travelling to Southampton for the match.

The friendly encounter forms part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of major continental and global competitions, including the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and future FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers. Head Coach Nora Häuptle is expected to use the match to assess new call-ups and fine-tune tactical approaches against top-tier opposition.

The clash also presents an opportunity for the Black Queens to test themselves against one of the world’s most formidable women’s football sides. The Lionesses, reigning European champions and finalists at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, are anticipated to field a strong side for the encounter.

Team officials say morale in camp is high, with players eager to make a strong impression and uphold Ghana’s pride on the international stage.
