Black Starlets Step Up AFCON Preparations with Dominant Friendly Victories in Accra

0 1

Ghana’s national Under-17 side, the Black Starlets, maintained their impressive preparations for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 2-0 victory over Semper Fi FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The result came on the back of an earlier 1-0 win against Zone Three leaders Port City FC, as the team completed two friendly matches in a single day. The fixtures formed part of an intensive training programme designed to fine-tune tactics, build match fitness and strengthen squad cohesion ahead of the continental tournament.

The technical team used both encounters to assess player combinations, test different tactical systems and provide valuable competitive minutes for the squad. Several fringe players were handed opportunities to impress, while the regular starters maintained their rhythm and sharpness.

Having now played four friendly matches within the past two weeks, the Black Starlets appear to be gathering momentum at a crucial stage of their preparations. The coaching staff remain focused on improving defensive organisation, attacking efficiency and overall game management as they aim to assemble a well-balanced and competitive side for the championship.

The 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations will serve as a major platform for the young Ghanaian talents to showcase their abilities on the continental stage, and the early signs from the team’s build-up have been encouraging.
