The Black Stars of Ghana are set to face the Mexico national team in an international friendly in May as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match has been scheduled for 22 May 2026 at a venue yet to be confirmed in Mexico.

Both countries are expected to use the fixture to assess their squads ahead of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by 2026 FIFA World Cup hosts Mexico, Canada and the United States. Ghana’s squad is likely to comprise a blend of locally based players, Europe-based professionals being monitored by head coach Otto Addo, and selected Under-23 talents preparing for Olympic qualifiers.

The Mexico friendly adds to Ghana’s expanding list of preparatory matches. Friendlies against Austria and Germany have already been confirmed for the next FIFA international window in March. Addo and his technical team are expected to name the squad for those matches in the coming days.

At the World Cup, Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama on 17 June, before facing England and Croatia in their remaining group fixtures.
