Black Stars Winger Fatawu Issahaku Joins Leicester City for Preseason Tour in Austria

Ghanaian international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has travelled with English side Leicester City to Austria as part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 football season.

The 20-year-old winger, who played a pivotal role in Leicester’s successful 2023/24 Championship title-winning campaign, is expected to be a key figure once again as the Foxes return to the Premier League. His impressive performances last season earned him a permanent deal after initially joining on loan from Portuguese side Sporting CP.

The preseason tour in Austria will see Leicester City engage in three friendly matches against European opposition as the technical team, now led by new manager Steve Cooper, assesses the squad and fine-tunes tactics ahead of the Premier League season.

Fatawu’s inclusion in the travelling squad reflects his strong standing in the team following a breakout year in England, where he recorded six goals and 13 assists in all competitions.

The Austrian camp is expected to help the players build match fitness, develop chemistry, and adapt to the new coach’s playing style.

Leicester will return to England after the tour to wrap up their preseason before their Premier League opener in August.
