Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), will attend the final match and closing ceremony of the African U20 Volleyball Championship, hosted by Egypt from September 13 to 21 at Dr. Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in the 6th of October City, with the participation of eight African nations.
The final is scheduled for next Saturday, where Hajij will join Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, in awarding medals and trophies to the winners. Hajij had attended the opening ceremony of the tournament and followed a large part of its competitions before traveling to the Philippines to participate in International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) meetings and to follow the ongoing World Championship matches.
Hajij emphasized that youth and junior competitions are a cornerstone of the CAVB’s strategy to develop the sport across Africa, highlighting that building strong foundations is the key to preparing generations capable of competing at the global level. She added that the Confederation is working with all its partners to promote volleyball at both the grassroots and competitive levels, welcoming all initiatives that could strengthen Africa’s place on the international volleyball stage.
The CAVB President also expressed her deep appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his great support of sports in Egypt, commending the efforts of Minister Ashraf Sobhi, whose cooperation with the African Volleyball Confederation has had a positive impact on the continental sports system and provides a model of partnership and integration to be followed.
