Bouchra Hajij presides over the closing ceremony of the African U20 Volleyball Championship in Cairo
Bouchra Hajij, president of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), will preside over the final and closing ceremony of the African Championship U-20, organized by Egypt from September 13 to 21 at the Dr. Hassan Moustafa Sports Complex, with the participation of eight African nations.
The final is scheduled for next Saturday, where Ms. Hajij will be accompanied by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, and members of the CAVB Board to present medals and trophies to the winners.
Ms. Hajij had attended the opening ceremony and followed much of the competitions before traveling to the Philippines to participate in the the federation International Volleyball (FIVB) meetings and to follow the World Championship matches.
The CAVB President stressed that the youth and junior competitions constitute an essential pillar in the African Confederation CAVB’s strategy to develop the sport on the African continent, emphasizing that attention to the grassroots is key to building generations that are capable of competing globally. She added that the CAVB is working with all its partners to promote volleyball at both the practice and competition levels, and welcomes all initiatives that can strengthen Africa’s place on the international stage.
Ms. Hajij also expressed her deep gratitude to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi for his great support to sport in Egypt, while lauding the efforts of Minister Ashraf Sobhi, whose cooperation with the African Volleyball Confederation has had a positive impact on the continental sporting system and constitutes a model of partnership and integration to follow.
