The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has awarded Olympic Scholarships to two of the country’s promising female athletes, Elizebeth Serwaa Oduro (Judo) and Henrietta Naa Ayele Armah (Taekwondo), as part of Ghana’s long-term preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The scholarships will enable the athletes to undertake advanced training programmes in France and Germany over a two-year period, providing them with exposure to high-performance coaching, international competitions and world-class training facilities.

Under the initiative, both athletes are expected to train alongside elite competitors in Europe, participate in ranking tournaments and benefit from specialised technical and physical development programmes designed to enhance their competitiveness on the global stage. The scholarship package is also anticipated to cover accommodation, training expenses and competition-related costs.
The programme forms part of the GOC’s broader strategy to strengthen Ghana’s representation in combat sports at major international events, including the Olympic Games. By investing in targeted preparation and international exposure, the Committee aims to improve qualification prospects and medal potential ahead of LA 2028.
The scholarship period is scheduled to run until 2028, aligning with the qualification window for the upcoming Olympic Games.
Officials of the GOC have reiterated their commitment to supporting talented athletes, particularly women in sport, as Ghana seeks to build a stronger and more competitive Olympic team for the future.
