Ghanaian young goalkeeper Stephen “Buffon” Awere has kicked off his campaign with Real Sport in the Benin Lique 1 league in outstanding fashion, delivering a commanding display in his side’s 4–2 away victory over Dynamique Djougou FC in the opening fixture of the season.

Awere, impressed fans and officials alike with his agility, confidence, and ability to organize the defence. His key saves in the second half ensured his side maintained their lead, setting a positive tone for the rest of the campaign.

Speaking after the match, Awere shared his delight at starting the season on such a high note:

“It feels great to start the season with a win, especially away from home,” Awere said. “The team worked really hard, and I’m happy to have played my part. This victory gives us confidence and sets the tone for what we want to achieve this season.”

He added that adapting to the Benin league has been a fulfilling experience so far.

“The tempo here is exciting, and I’m enjoying the challenge. My focus is to keep improving, help the team secure more wins, and hopefully keep more clean sheets,” he noted.
