“Bukom Banku” finally draw the curtain on his boxing career after almost a decade.

Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku has announced his retirement from active boxing after almost a decade in the sport.

Banku officially confirmed hanging his boxing gloves in an interview with an Accra based radio station Okay fm.

The 43 year-old rose to fame in the year 1999 when he won bronze medal at the All Africa Games in South Africa.

In a boxing career that spanned two decades, he held the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight titles in 2011-2012.

PRO Records: 30 bouts, 29 wins,21 KOs and 1 loss.

Narrating his reasons for stepping out of the boxing ring, he said, he has been having problems with his sight.

“I am grown and at the same time my eyes is also worrying me, so I don’t want to fight again ” the Banku ebaa man” stated.

“I have three children and my children are also into boxing so I have left everything for them. I leave my gloves to Abu Kamoko and Mustapha Kamoko to fight on.

“I have already prepared the road for them to continue my name where I could not reach in boxing maybe they can reach there. So officially I have quit boxing ”

Bukom Banku lost just once in his boxing career a defeat that came against the famous Bastie Samir six years ago.

The former WBO Africa Light Heavyweight champion,however, said he was advised to stop bleaching by some big men in society.

“I wanted to be handsome so I was bleaching my skin bit I have stopped because bleaching can cause cancer.
