CAF Confederations Cup: dreams FC secured a 2-1 win over Nigerian side Rivers United

Dreams defeated Nigerian side Rivers United 2-1 to register their first win of the group stage in the CAF Confederations Cup.

A strike each from John Antwi and Aziz Issah was enough to give the Still Believe lads Hard-fought win at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Dreams first chance of the game came from Aziz Issah, but the wingers shot went wide.

The Ghanaian side kept pushing and finally got the opener through John Antwi on the 32nd minute.

Antwi jumped from a cross from Eric Danso to break the deadlock of the game.

Dreams took control of the game and caused problems to the Nigerians till the end of the first half.

After the break, the visitors came back strongly taking the game to Dreams.

Rivers had a golden opportunity to take the lead after Farouk found Young in the penalty box.

But the attacker’s effort was blocked by Richard Adjei.

Dreams on the other hand had a goal dissallowed on the 68th minute for an offside.

The host pressure paid off on the 75th minute as Aziz Issah made it 2-0 with a good finish.

Rivers had a consolation in the added time after Oyowa Young connected a cross from the right side.

Despite a late pressure from the visitors, Dreams held on to win the game by 2-1.

The Ghanaian side will face Academica Lobito in the match day three of the competition.
