CAF Women’s Champions League: Tracey Twums brace secures semi-final slot for Ampem Darkoa Ladies
Ampem Darkoa Ladies have sailed through to the semi finals of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League after cruising over Huracanes FC 3-1 at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium on Sunday.
A brace from Tracey Twum and substitute Gnabegkan N-nyavimaga saw the Ghanaian side triumph into the round in their debut season.
The WAFU B champions started the game on a high note as they unveiled their attacking force against their opponents.
A superb freekick from Tracey opened the goalscoring account of the Techiman-based side who needed a win to make it to the next round of the competition.
Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes FC got back into the game with some impressive display as they kept the defense of the WAFU B champions on their toes till the first 45 minutes came to an end.
Goalkeeper, Deborah Brown was super in between the sticks as she made some crucial saves for the ladies in blue, Ampem Darkoa.
The Ghanaians came into the second half as wounded lionesses who were seeking for revenge on another man’s land.
Tracey Twum made no mistake immediately she was served with a rebound in the 71st minute, slotting in the ball to make it 2-0, after which substitute Gnabegkan also got on the scoresheet in the 88th minute.
After 90 minutes of play the game ended 3-1 with Huracanes FC getting a last minute goal as they packed home after going winless in three games.
Tracey Twum was received the MVP award.
Ampem Darkoa would face SC Casablanca in the semi-finals on Wednesday 15th November,2023.
