CAVB anticipates record participation at Africa Championship in Morocco

The 2025 Africa Senior Beach Volleyball Championship is set to see a record participation, as over 25 African countries have confirmed participation.

At a press conference held on Friday, in Rabat, Morocco, the President of the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Bushra Hajij said so far 22 African countries have confirmed participation, which is an improvement on the previous event.

She said a total of 88 women’s doubles team representing 22 African countries and 114 men’s doubles from 27 continental countries would be seeking for honours.

The Championships fixed for the city of Mortel “Tetwan” between June 23 – 30, would serve as
the qualifying competition for the World Championship, which would be held in Australia in November.

She mentioned that, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, Algeria, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Kenya , Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namba – Niger – Rwanda, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia would be competing in the male category.

Benin, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, GambiaX, Algeria, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Namibia Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo , Uganda and Zambia would participate in the female category.

She said winners of the top four places in both men’s and women’s categories would qualify for the World Championships, which would be held in Australia, November 14 and 23.

She added that there would also be the African Championship for Under-21, which would be held alongside the senior championship adding that, it would also serve as qualifiers for the World Championship, in Mexico between October 15th and 19th, this year.
