Chad head coach Raoul Savoy has declared that his side will be driven by pride and the determination to delight their supporters when they take on Ghana in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter on Thursday, 4 September.

The Matchday Five fixture will be staged at the newly built Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N’Djamena – Chad’s first home tie of the campaign following earlier matches played in Morocco.

In a media engagement with the Swiss tactician conceded that Ghana would provide stern opposition but maintained that his squad is preparing diligently to deliver a spirited display, despite their slim chances of progressing.

“Facing Ghana is always challenging, but we are working hard to try and beat them. Our position in the group makes qualification extremely difficult, yet we remain committed to giving our fans a performance they can be proud of.

“This is our first home match in Chad after playing the last two in Morocco. Hopefully, we can make it count,” he stated.

Savoy was appointed in August, succeeding Tahir Gardia, who was dismissed after a disappointing start to the qualifying campaign.

Ghana currently lead the group with 15 points from six matches, while Chad languish at the bottom without a point. The Black Stars cruised to a 5–0 victory in the reverse fixture in Accra and will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run as they edge closer to securing a place at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
