Christian Atsu found missing in an earthquake in Turkey

Ghana international Christian Atsu Twasam has been trapped under a rubble after a massive earthquake that hit Turkey on Monday morning, according to reports.

The former Newcastle United winger plies his trade for Hatayaspor in the Turkish Super Lig where this incident occurred.

Rescuers are struggling to locate the missing player as of now and all efforts are being put in place to ensure he is found hale and hearty.

The earthquake occurred around 4 AM dawn in Kahramanmaras, where Hatayspor are based and Atsu and club’s sporting director Taner Savut remain unfound.

Over 1000 people are reported dead in that explosion caused by a gas pipeline flames this dawn where is it expected to rise to 10,000 in the coming days.

The former Everton loanee got his club’s winner on Sunday night via a free kick against Kasimpasa and fans have been pouring in messages to help rescue him together with those missing.

Technical Director of the club Volkan Demirel has also joined teeming supporters to join help in the search where he says “Things are very bad here. Help, we can’t reach people. Whoever can come, come now. We can’t reach anyone.” as reported by the Sun.

Christian Atsu has played for ten different clubs in his career including Hatayaspor.

He has 60 caps for Ghana and has ten goals to his credit.

His contract expires in 30th June, 2023 with his current club.
