Coastal Developers Urged to Choose Aluminium Roofing for Durability and Value
The Marketing Executive of Ghana Aluminium Products Ltd (GHANAL) in the Central Region, Prosper Richardson, has underscored the importance of using high-quality aluminium roofing for buildings situated along Ghana’s coastal belt.
Speaking during a visit and practical training session with engineering students from Cape Coast Technical University, Mr Richardson highlighted the superior qualities of GHANAL products and why they remain the preferred choice for developers in salt-prone environments.
The student delegation, led by Emmanuel Austin Baah, toured some facilities in the central region to better understand roofing solutions that offer durability and long-term value for coastal construction.
According to Mr Richardson, aluminium roofing sheets produced by GHANAL are specifically designed to withstand the harsh conditions associated with coastal areas.
“Structures along the coast are constantly exposed to salt-laden air, which accelerates corrosion. Our aluminium roofing sheets are engineered to resist such conditions, ensuring longevity and reduced maintenance costs,” he explained.
He further emphasised that GHANAL products offer a combination of strength and efficiency.
“Our roofing solutions come with excellent corrosion resistance, longer sheet lengths, ease of installation, superior heat insulation, and an appealing aesthetic finish. For developers, this translates into cost-effectiveness and durability over time,” Mr Richardson added.
The marketing executive also noted that choosing aluminium roofing is not only a practical decision but a strategic investment for property owners seeking to protect their buildings against environmental wear and tear.
Reacting to the experience, building engineering student leader Emmanuel Austin Baah described the training as insightful and essential for future engineers.
“This visit has given us a clearer understanding of the materials best suited for coastal construction. Aluminium roofing stands out as a reliable option, especially when durability and resistance to corrosion are critical factors,” he said.
He further encouraged fellow students and industry stakeholders to prioritise quality materials in construction.
“As emerging professionals, we have a responsibility to recommend solutions that ensure safety and longevity. What we have learnt here will greatly influence our approach to building design and material selection,” Mr Baah added.
The engagement forms part of GHANAL’s ongoing efforts to educate the next generation of engineers and promote the use of high-quality, locally manufactured products in Ghana’s construction industry.
The Ghana Aluminum Products LTD was established in 1959.
