Danger Looms at Asante Kotoko Ahead of Super Clash as Supporters Storm Training Grounds, Call for Coach Prince Owusu’s Dismissal

A group of aggrieved Asante Kotoko supporters on Wednesday stormed the club’s training complex at Adako Jachie in Kumasi, forcing interim head coach Prince Owusu to leave the premises.

Dozens of fans reportedly gathered at the grounds to express their dissatisfaction with Owusu’s appointment following the resignation of former head coach Abdul Karim Zito last week. Owusu, who previously served as assistant to Zito and was formerly head coach of Vision FC, has been placed in temporary charge of the team.

Upon his arrival at the training base, the organised group allegedly warned the coach to vacate the premises for his own safety. Owusu complied and hurried to his vehicle to leave the facility.

Witnesses say some of the irate supporters continued to pursue him, banging on the roof and body of his car as he departed the grounds.

In the aftermath of the incident, former Hearts of Oak assistant coach Hamza Obeng supervised the remainder of the training session.

Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman Nana Apinkra later arrived at the scene accompanied by security personnel to restore calm and order at the training complex.

The incident comes at a delicate time for the Porcupine Warriors, who are preparing for this weekend’s Ghana Premier League showdown against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
