The highly anticipated second edition of the Democracy Cup match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics has been rescheduled.

Originally slated for Thursday, August 29, 2025, the match will now take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The Parliament of Ghana, under the leadership of the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, announced the change, citing the need to provide optimal facilities, enhanced security, and a first-class experience for both players and fans.

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with its modern amenities and spacious environment, is expected to provide a fitting stage for the city derby, which promises intense rivalry and high entertainment.

The Democracy Cup, introduced by Parliament, is an annual initiative that leverages football’s mass appeal to promote democratic values, civic engagement, and national unity. By bringing together top Ghanaian clubs in a spirit of fair play and healthy competition, the Cup reinforces the role of sport in advancing peace and development.

Organizers have apologized for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling and urged fans, media partners, and stakeholders to take note of the new arrangements.
