Accra, Ghana – Ghana’s Under-19 Girls Table Tennis Team delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 ITTF African Youth Championships, recording a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Benin in their team event fixture.

 

The encounter began with a strong showing from Emerald Bortey, who opened proceedings with a convincing 3-1 triumph (11-2, 6-11, 11-2, 11-3) over Amadji Christelle. Despite dropping the second set, Bortey displayed resilience and focus to secure Ghana’s first point.

 

Emmanuella Yaa Kyere built on that momentum, demonstrating impressive consistency and poise as she overcame Mayaki Emmanuella in four sets (11-13, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9). Her win extended Ghana’s advantage to 2-0, leaving the Benin side with a mountain to climb.

 

In the final rubber, Philipa Aidoo sealed the victory with a determined 3-0 win (13-11, 11-6, 15-13) over Amadji Christelle. Aidoo held her nerve during crucial points, showing maturity and tactical awareness to close out the match and secure an emphatic team victory.
