Immediate past Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended his congratulations to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur for reaching an agreement to sign Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Dr. Bawumia—an avid Tottenham supporter—expressed his excitement over the midfielder’s imminent move from West Ham United to his favourite club.

“I am excited to see our Ghanaian starboy make this move to my Spurs. All the best in your medical, Mohammed Kudus,” he wrote.

Kudus is set to undergo a medical on Thursday, 10 July, ahead of completing a £55 million move from West Ham to Tottenham. The 24-year-old has been a standout performer in the Premier League since arriving from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam last summer, quickly earning a reputation as one of the most dynamic and creative midfielders in world football.

Tottenham’s acquisition of Kudus is seen as a major coup, as the club prepares for a return to the UEFA Champions League next season under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Dr. Bawumia’s public endorsement of the move has resonated with many Ghanaians, who see Kudus’ rise as a source of national pride. The Vice President has long been vocal about his love for football and his allegiance to Tottenham Hotspur.

Mohammed Kudus will become the latest Ghanaian to represent Spurs, and his arrival is expected to significantly bolster their attacking options going into the 2025/26 campaign.
