Burkina Faso’s athletics icon, Hugues Fabrice Zango, has officially announced his retirement at the age of 32.
The African triple jump legend bows out after making history as his nation’s first-ever World Champion and as the only African man to surpass the 18-metre barrier, with a personal best of 18.07m.
Zango stated that he has achieved all he set out to in the sport and will now dedicate himself to his career beyond the track. A Doctor of Electrical Engineering, he is pursuing an academic path towards becoming a Professor while also managing his own company in Burkina Faso.
