Accra Hearts of Oak have officially completed the signing of Joshua Kojo Anazah from the John Paintsil Academy, adding youthful strength to their defensive setup ahead of the new season.

The highly rated 19-year-old defender, who is comfortable operating both at left-back and centre-back, has committed to a three-year contract with the Phobians, with an option to extend for a further two years.

Anazah’s arrival is expected to bolster Hearts of Oak’s squad depth and tactical flexibility as they prepare for the GHALCA Top Four tournament and the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. His ability to cover multiple defensive roles will provide manager Didi Dramani with additional options as the club look to challenge strongly for silverware.

The signing also highlights the growing reputation of the John Paintsil Academy, founded by former Black Stars defender John Paintsil, which has quickly established itself as a hub for nurturing talented young footballers. Known for its emphasis on discipline, technical ability and player development, the academy is producing a new wave of prospects who are beginning to make their mark in Ghanaian football.

By securing Anazah, Hearts of Oak are not only investing in immediate defensive reinforcement but also in long-term potential, with the teenager tipped to develop into one of the standout defenders of his generation.

With the GHALCA Top Four serving as a vital preparatory tournament, Anazah will have the perfect platform to integrate into the Hearts system and prove his readiness for top-flight football when the new league season kicks off.
