Exclusive: Hearts of Oak Turn to Drone Technology Under New Head Coach Didi Dramani

Accra Hearts of Oak have taken a bold technological leap under the leadership of newly-appointed head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, with the introduction of drone technology to monitor and analyse player performance during training sessions.

The innovative move, which is part of a broader effort to modernise the club’s technical operations, has seen drones become a regular feature at the Pobiman Training Complex, capturing aerial footage of drills, tactical formations, and in-game simulations.

According to club insiders, the drone footage is reviewed by Dramani and his backroom staff to gain a more comprehensive understanding of player movement, spatial awareness, and decision-making during various phases of play. This data is then used to fine-tune training regimens and develop match strategies based on real-time insights.

“This is a new era for Hearts of Oak,” a club official told the media. “Coach Dramani is bringing a fresh perspective. The use of drones is not just about visuals—it helps the technical team analyse space, movement, and shape in ways traditional video analysis cannot.”

The initiative marks a significant shift in approach for the former Ghana Premier League champions, who are seeking to return to their glory days with a mix of homegrown talent, tactical discipline, and now, cutting-edge technology.

Dramani, a former Black Maidens coach and CAF coaching instructor, is known for his emphasis on structure, player development, and progressive methodologies. His appointment was met with optimism by the club’s supporters, many of whom have called for a more scientific and disciplined approach to the game.

The move to embrace technology mirrors trends seen in top European clubs and signals Hearts of Oak’s ambition to raise their standards both domestically and on the continental stage.

With preparations ongoing for the upcoming season, the club believes this modern touch could provide the edge needed to challenge for honours once again.
