EXCLUSIVE: Kotoko Move to Secure Boadu and Simpson Ahead of January Window

Asante Kotoko are intensifying efforts behind the scenes to secure the services of two highly rated midfielders — former captain Richard Boadu and Nations FC skipper, Razak Simpson — ahead of the January transfer window.

Sources close to the Kumasi-based club indicate that preliminary discussions have already begun, with Kotoko keen to strengthen their spine as they prepare for a demanding second round of the Ghana Premier League. The technical team is believed to have identified both players as priority targets due to their leadership qualities, consistency, and experience at the highest level of domestic football.

Boadu, who previously enjoyed a successful spell with the Porcupine Warriors before moving abroad, is seen as an ideal addition to reinforce the midfield, bringing maturity, ball-winning ability, and familiarity with the club’s philosophy. His potential return has generated excitement among a section of the Kotoko faithful, who still hold him in high regard.

Razak Simpson, on the other hand, has been one of the standout performers for Nations FC, captaining the side with distinction and earning plaudits for his composure, tactical intelligence, and reliability in the heart of midfield. His acquisition would add depth and competition within the squad, particularly as Kotoko aim to restore their dominance in the league.

Management remains tight-lipped on the details, but insiders suggest that negotiations are progressing positively, with Kotoko hopeful of finalising both deals before the window officially opens.

Securing Boadu and Simpson would mark a significant statement of intent from the Porcupine Warriors as they strive to mount a strong challenge in the upcoming months.
