The Burkina Faso Football Federation has reportedly made contact with former Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah to explore the possibility of appointing him as head coach of the senior men’s national team.

Sources close to the discussions indicate that initial talks have centred on the federation’s long-term vision for the Stallions, including preparations for upcoming continental tournaments and the future. While no formal agreement has been reached, the approach signals Burkina Faso’s intent to secure an experienced tactician with a proven track record in African football.
Appiah, a former head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, previously guided the West African nation to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and has also enjoyed success at club level within the African Continent. His familiarity with the dynamics of African football and tournament football in particular is believed to be a key factor behind the federation’s interest.
The Burkinabè football authorities are understood to be keen on strengthening the technical bench as they seek to build a competitive side capable of challenging for honours on the continent. Further developments are expected in the coming weeks as negotiations progress.
