WCQ Matchday 9: FIFA Moves Central African Republic vs Ghana Clash to Morocco, Confirms Date

The Black Stars of Ghana remain firmly focused on securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they prepare to face the Central African Republic in their Matchday 9 qualifier.

FIFA has confirmed that the crucial fixture will take place on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, at the El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco.

Ghana, four-time champions of Africa, are pushing for a fifth World Cup appearance. With only two matches remaining in the group, victory over the Wild Beasts is essential to keep their qualification hopes firmly on track.

Currently leading Group I with 19 points, the Black Stars are trailed closely by Madagascar on 16 points. This leaves Otto Addo’s men with little room for error. The head coach is expected to assemble a formidable squad, combining Europe-based professionals with in-form local talents, as Ghana looks to maintain its momentum.

The Central African Republic, however, will not be pushovers, having sprung surprises in recent qualifying campaigns.

Following the El Jadida encounter, Ghana will return home to face Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, 11 October, in what could well prove to be the decisive showdown in the group.
