Former Dreams FC goalkeepers’ coach Sani Mohammed has expressed his delight following the call-up of Solomon Agbasi to the Black Stars squad ahead of the two friendly games against Germany and Austria.

Mohammed, who worked closely with Agbasi during their time together at Dreams FC, described the invitation as well-deserved and a testament to the goalkeeper’s hard work, discipline and steady development over the years.

Speaking on Agbasi’s progress, the experienced trainer noted that the shot-stopper has consistently demonstrated composure, agility and strong leadership qualities between the posts. He added that Agbasi’s rapid improvement at club level in the few games he has played for Hearts has not gone unnoticed and that the national team call-up is a significant milestone in his career.

“I am extremely proud of Solomon,” Mohammed said. “He has worked tirelessly to improve his game and has always shown the hunger to learn. This opportunity with the Black Stars is something he truly deserves.”

Agbasi has been named in the squad as Ghana would look to intensify preparations for their World Cup, with the technical team seeking depth and reliability in the goalkeeping department. Mohammed believes the goalkeeper has the temperament and quality required at international level and can provide strong competition within the squad.

He further stated that Agbasi would serve as a dependable deputy to fellow goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, offering healthy competition and valuable support in camp.

“With the right guidance and exposure at national level, Solomon can grow into a key asset for the team,” Mohammed added. “He has the confidence and mentality to step up when called upon.”

Agbasi’s inclusion forms part of the broader efforts to strengthen the goalkeeping department within the Black Stars setup, as the team aims to assemble a balanced and competitive squad capable making a strong impression on the global stage.
