Freezy Targets Revenge Bout Against Tetteh in Kumasi this December
Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah, popularly known as Freezy Macbones, has confirmed his willingness to face rival Jonathan Tetteh in a highly anticipated rematch scheduled for December 2026, with Kumasi being proposed as the host city.
The two fighters renewed their rivalry at the press launch of the Resurrection Fight Night, promoted by RBS Promotions, where tensions once again flared between them.
Their feud dates back to their time with Ghana’s national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers, when both athletes competed for the heavyweight slot ahead of the qualification campaign for the 2024 Olympic Games. Gyimah was ultimately selected to represent Ghana in the Dakar qualifiers but fell short of securing a place at the Games — a development that intensified the rivalry, with Tetteh persistently calling for a professional showdown.
That long-awaited clash eventually took place under the banner of Legacy Rise Promotions, led by Sharaf Mahama. Tetteh, 25, extended his unbeaten record to 11-0 (10 KOs) with a unanimous decision victory over Gyimah.
Speaking at the recent press launch, Tetteh reiterated his confidence:
“I have always told you that you are not my match. I will beat you any day we meet in the ring. But I am grateful to you for accepting the fight, and I will be ready to grant a rematch if you so desire.”
Gyimah, now 36 with a record of 11-1 (10 KOs), has embraced the opportunity for redemption following a public call from Dr Albert Tetteh Botchway, Chief Executive of Laboma Beach Resort, who advocated for a rematch to be staged in Kumasi.
Responding enthusiastically, Gyimah said:
“I have been looking for this opportunity. I salute Dr Botchway and Nii Martey Dzata Obrempong. The people of Kumasi are ready and waiting for a show like this.”
With both fighters eager to settle their differences, a December showdown in Kumasi promises to be one of the most compelling bouts on Ghana’s boxing calendar.
