The Ga Mantse, King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has pledged his full support for the second edition of the Democracy Cup, organised by the Parliament of Ghana.

As part of his commitment, King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II announced that he would purchase 1,000 tickets to help boost attendance for the highly anticipated clash between the two glamorous Accra clubs.

The Ga Mantse, who urged Ghanaians not to take the country’s democracy for granted, made this pledge during the official presentation of the Democracy Cup trophy at his Palace on Friday, 29 August 2025.

“We should not take our democracy for granted. I am supporting the Democracy Cup with 1,000 tickets,” King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said, as quoted by GhanaWeb Sports.

Instituted by the Speaker of Parliament in 2024, the Democracy Cup has swiftly evolved into more than just a football fixture. It now stands as a symbol of national cohesion, uniting political leaders, football enthusiasts, and the general public under one banner.

This year’s edition will take place on Friday, 5 September 2025, at the Legon Stadium, where Accra giants Hearts of Oak will lock horns with their city rivals, Great Olympics, in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
