Ghana’s promising table tennis duo, Nuhu Ibrahim Gado and Richard Ofori, have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Under-19 Boys’ Doubles event at the 2025 ITTF African Youth Championship, currently underway at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in Lagos, Nigeria.

The pair exhibited remarkable synergy, technical skill, and determination to reach the last eight of the competition. Gado, a seasoned campaigner who clinched gold in the Mini-Cadet Boys’ Singles at the 2019 Ghana Junior and Cadet Open, has built a formidable partnership with Ofori.

Their campaign began with a convincing 3-1 victory over Algeria’s Khenniche Sofiance and Touaibia Khaled in the Round of 32. They then cruised past Zimbabwe’s Makoni Shallom and Nourumba Tatenda with a commanding 3-0 win in the Round of 16.

Renowned for their fast-paced attacking style and sharp forehands, Gado and Ofori have caught the eye with their dynamic play and tactical intelligence. With a place in the semi-finals now within reach, the Ghanaian pair are targeting a podium finish — a result that would further cement Gado’s rising legacy and underscore Ghana’s growing presence in continental table tennis.

The quarter-final match promises to be a stern test, but the duo’s performances thus far have sparked optimism and pride within the Ghanaian camp.
